The Facilities Maintenance Technician Maintains inspects and operates utility systems including but not limited to compressed air, process water, product water, and electrical distribution. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment in all areas of the building related to utility rooms, pump rooms, electrical areas, and water areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains compressed air systems and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance schedules, and operational data.
- Conserves electrical distribution and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance schedules, and operational data.
- Supports process water and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance schedules, and operational data.
- Maintains product water and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, preventative maintenance schedules and operational data.
- Examines filtration systems and performs filter changes as needed per equipment requirements.
- Performs CIPs (Critical Infrastructure Protection) on storage silos, filtering equipment, and supply lines.
- Ensures water supply to production lines by maintaining pumps and piping.
- Supports pumps and piping to ensure water supply to support equipment.
- Operates and conserves process water, chemical injection systems, and chemical transfer equipment.
- Assists with filler sanitizations.
- Maintains and operates reverse osmosis equipment to include CIPs (Critical Infrastructure Protection) on membranes, monitoring instruments, and review of operational data and reports.
- Maintains air compressors and air dryers.
- Ensures cooling towers, chillers, heat exchangers, and pumps are working properly.
- Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment and
- analysis are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
- Ensures that all details of a task are accomplished properly.
May be required to cross-train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different workstations as production needs require.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Possesses all basic and some advanced skills and knowledge.
- Has a thorough understanding of the total process flow.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years of related experience and/or training;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines and/or tools.
- Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical experience preferred.
Work Environment:
The work environment is climate-controlled year-round. The noise level is loud and hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor. The following personal protective equipment (PPE) is always required when performing in this role while on the manufacturing floor: safety glasses and hearing protection. Food Safety protective equipment is required at all times while on the manufacturing floor: including hair nets, gloves, and, if applicable, beard nets.
