What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Manager position at Vocational Instruction Project?
Description
· Conduct daily observations of the kitchen operations to ensure compliance with the Department of Health regulations for food services.
· Ensure that all residential aides and/or shift supervisors assisting with food services are appropriately dressed using hairnets, gloves, and wearing their uniforms.
· Ensure that all staff serving food have a food handler’s permit within the designated time of hire (30-days).
· Ensure that all refrigerator thermometers are checked daily, and the temperature logged in the logbook.
· Ensure that all food deliveries are correct, stored immediately and appropriately.
· Ensure that those clients granted accommodation for special diets, food is ordered and set aside to accommodate the special diet.
· Ensure that all clients sign for and receive their meals on a daily basis, three times per day.
· Report any incidents or lack of compliance to the DPO and the Program Director immediately including (staff hurt in the kitchen, issues with clients, missing or lack of inventory).
· Maintain excellent working relationships with all clients, staff, vendors, etc.
· Participate in training, workshops and/or educational programs as assigned or indicated.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Program Operations or designee
Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalency with customer service experience in a restaurant and/or in the shelter system
· Food Handler's Certificate or can be hired with the condition of obtaining within 30 days.
· CPR/First Aide or can be hired with the condition of obtaining within 30 days.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule and work shifts associated with a department that operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to speak/write the English language
