VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR PART TIME

PHYSICAL TRAINER (DAY TIME)

For successful completion of construction programs, students are required to complete the Vocational Physical Training courses. This position supports that requirement. Dawson Technical Institute (DTI) is dedicated to providing students with intensive and comprehensive industry validated training in the construction trade and utility industries. DTI is committed to preparing students to compete in these industries by offering relevant competency-based instruction that leads to unionized apprenticeships and other relevant trade and utility worker opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create and facilitate lessons in nutrition, physical fitness and healthy lifestyles for students preparing to work in the construction industry.
• Classroom preparation, lesson planning, classroom instruction (theory and contextualized learning and assessment).
• Contact hours with students, material preparation for student class work.
• Blackboard Learning Management System administrative work.

Qualifications: 

• Must have certification in one or more of the following: Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, NASM Personal Training, Corrective Exercise, Health Coach, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation or other related health sciences a or medical fields.

OR

• Must hold a degree in one or more of the following, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Personal Training, Corrective Exercise, Health Coach, Physical therapy, Rehabilitation or other related health sciences and medical fields.
• Must have 2 years or more of clinical experience in related field.
• Must have CPR Certification
• Exhibit sensitivity to a multicultural student population.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Working independently and exercising sound judgement; maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to students
• Ability to work under pressure and exercise flexibility as needed.
