Program Information
This nursing assistant course is a 117-hour course. It meets the Oregon State Board of Nursing hours for nursing assistant training requirements. The standard (1:8 or 1:10 depending on location) ratio course has 65 classroom hours, 42 clinical hours. This course includes instruction in basic nursing skills, basic restorative services, psychosocial needs, personal care, and resident rights..
Prerequisites
- Must be 18 years old by the training graduation date
- Pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must be able to read and understand simple and verbal instructions in English
- Must be eligible to work in the US
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 OR provide information about a qualified exemption based on religious belief or disability. *
* Oregon State mandates require employees to either be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 OR comply by providing information about a qualifying exemption based on religious belief or disability to work in a health care facility. Upon acceptance into the Nurse Assistant training course, you will be required to provide evidence of vaccine records and/or submit an exemption request along with your attestation for qualifying reason to complete clinical rotations in the facility. Volare Health Care follows the recommendations of the CDC in regards to COVID-19 employee testing and safety procedures.

Students are responsible for Oregon State Board of Nursing Exam Fees:
Once the course is successfully completed, the student is eligible to take the state certification exam. Oregon State Board of Nursing charges each candidate a fee of $106.00 for the exam, plus $70.50 for the fingerprint processing. The student is responsible for the cost of the state exam fee and fingerprinting fee. If accepted into our class and hired at one of our locations, you will be reimbursed for the cost once you are officially on our payroll. We will require a receipt to provide the reimbursement.

- You will be responsible for $106 for the State Certification Test and $70.50 for your fingerprints. (You will be reimbursed if you go to work for a facility within 3 months of hire but you will have to pay for this upfront after completion of the 5-6 week training) Are you able to pay this cost of $176.50?
- A background check is required to be enrolled in the class. Do you have any criminal history that may disqualify you for the class? Please be honest as this may affect your ability to not only get into the class but get hired and certified as a CNA.
11. Have you lived out of the State in the past 5 years?
- Have you had the Covid vaccinations or have a medical or religious exemption? You will need one of these to proceed.
- Please explain in detail what makes you want to do the NA training Program and where you see yourself going with this education.
- Classes are offered in the following locations (Grants Pass, Roseburg, Eugene, Corvallis, Woodburn) Do you live in or close these areas in order to attend class each day?
- Due to Volare Health offering a free class, we are looking to enroll students that would like to work for one of the facilities in Medford, Grants Pass, Roseburg, Eugene, Corvallis, Keizer or Woodburn after graduation. Do you want to work for Volare as a graduate Nursing Assistant right after graduation and as a CNA after getting certified with Oregon State Board of Nursing?
- The training program is offered to you free of charge but you will not be paid or earn a wage while taking the training program (5 weeks) Will this be an issue for you?
- Are you 18? If not, when is your birthday? You must be 18 by graduation of the 5 week program.
- The class involves a lot of homework and daily quizzes that will be outside of class time. Are you prepared to spend 2-3 hours a night studying and doing homework?
- You must be in good health physically and mentally to be able to do the job of a CNA. You must be able to frequently stoop, bend and reach, walk and stand during lab and clinical training. You must be able to lift 40 pounds and also be able to work diligently at remaining calm under stress. Are any of these any issue for you? If yes please explain.
- Do you have any caregiving experience, or have you ever been a CNA?
- Do you currently work? The classes are in the day between the hours of 6 am-4 pm. Will you be able to attend while working? Do you have reliable transportation?
- What facility are you interested in working at? Hearthstone (Medford), Royale Gardens or Highland House (Grants Pass), Umpqua Valley or Rose Haven (Roseburg), Hillside Heights, South Hills or Green Valley (Eugene), Corvallis Manor (Corvallis), Keizer or French Prairie (Woodburn)
