We are currently searching for a Marketing Communications Intern to support Volkert’s corporate communications team. This position is part-time, with the opportunity to be hybrid in Mobile, AL.

We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization and drive innovation to support the future of internal and external communications. This position reports to Volkert’s director of communications.

What you’ll be doing: As part of Volkert’s communications team, you will contribute to the growth and development of our organization in a variety of ways. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with social media campaigns and content creation promoting company culture, employees, infrastructure projects, and key job openings
- Working with business development and marketing teams to develop external communications strategies
- Monitoring news coverage for company and project mentions
- Writing thought leadership and key project insights stories for Volkert’s website and trade publications
- Work with marketing design teams to develop new branding ideas for social media, video, brochure, tradeshow content
- Assist with tradeshow management efforts
- B.S. degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications, or a related field of study. May also be in the process or pursuing the degree with junior or senior-level status.
- Experience working in a corporate environment using social media, graphic design, and/or public relations activity
- Graphic design experience in Adobe or Canva preferred
- High degree of proficiency in writing/editing, repurposing content
- Creative, solution-oriented bent; not afraid to explore and learns new technologies; takes initiative; high project management skill; highly organized and deadline-focused
- Ability to successfully collaborate with team members and navigate a matrixed organization
- Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary programs
- Be a Brand Ambassador for the company who engages in diversity and inclusion
- Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
- Be able to multi-task in a team environment
- Exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems
- Be able to communicate effectively--verbal and written
