Capacity Planning Analyst

Role Summary:
The role of the Capacity Planning Analyst is to lead the Production Purchasing departments in the identification and resolution of supply bottlenecks through cross-functional coordination with Logistics, Quality, and Technical Development. This position is responsible to administer an annual investment budget to pay for additional tooling investments needed to reach adjusted production volumes, and to chair the Commodity Manager Meeting where new investments are agreed between Finance and Purchasing.
Role Responsibilities:
Critical Supply Coordination: 50%
Establish and Coordinate action plan for each potential supply bottleneck, with timing identified for each measure needed to ensure production demand requirement.
Maintain an 'Open Items' Action list, with clear path forward and responsibility identified for each item.
Interface with Related Department on Critical Supplier Management - Lead the follow up and closure of task. Report the status to Purchasing Top Management.
Confirm investment requirement for new capacity tooling, lead North American Investment Steering Committee preparation for approval.
New Projects Steering: 35%
Evaluate long-term production demand forecast against planning volume at the time of supplier business award. Identify gaps between business award and updated demand forecast, take action to ensure that awarded volume is in line with production forecast.
Responsible for Leading the Purchasing team to evaluate changes in Project Assumptions which have an impact on Supplier parts availability and tooling investment. Responsible to coordinate the official Purchasing response to the Baureihen (G3 / G4) Organizations to confirm profitability of changes.
Coordinate with the Buyer teams to confirm that 100% of parts have sufficient planned capacity to achieve ramp-up and long-term production demand.
Budget Responsibility: 10%
Responsible to plan and administer an annual budget to invest in new tooling to support adjustments in production volumes.
The annual budget must be planned through the Planning Round approvals, with spending authorizations presented in the North American Region Investment Steering Committee.
KPI Reporting: 5%
Issue weekly reports to Top Management on critical supply risks, steps being taken to resolve supply risk and closure of concern points.
Production Program Summary Reports - Distribute all production programs to Purchasing Team. Maintain all new project ramp-up summaries and distribute revisions as confirmed through Program Planning Meeting.
Qualifications:
Years of Experience:
3 - 5 years of professional experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
Education:
BS or MS Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business - required
MBA - desired
Skills:
Strong background in supply chain management, logistics concepts, MRP.
Knowledge of automotive parts and USA Supplier Base responsibility
Specialized Skills:
Required:
Ability to coordinate cross-functional and time critical projects with members from Purchasing, Logistics, Quality and Engineering. Report the status of critical situations and communicate to top management.
Evaluate near and mid-term production demands to identify potential risks to the supply chain. Find solutions to supply risks with cross-functional teams to ensure availability of parts.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes of components and/or subsystems within automotive industry
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to adapt to company-specific software systems
Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation, work effectively in a team.
Desired:
German or Spanish language skills
Work Flexibility:
Travel to supplier and VW sites in US, Canada, Mexico and Germany as required
