Job Posting for Environmental Specialist at Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System
Immediate Full Time Environmental Specialist Position in our 24/7 Integrated Treatment Program, Cookeville campus.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact with guests, visitors, family members and outside providers in a professional and welcoming manner always acknowledging their presence.
Must be able to maintain a flexible and cohesive relationship with clients, co-workers, and the public while maintaining professional boundaries.
Never share personal information, social media information, or anything that may allow a client to identify you or any staff member. Report all attempts to obtain such information to your supervisor and include it in the end of shift report.
Immediately report any change noted in client behavior or physical condition to the charge nurse.
Employ de-escalation techniques mediating potential crisis situations between clients when necessary and if safe to do so. Immediately report to charge nurse.
Follow the VBHCS in house crisis response plan in case of emergency psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor.
Attend meetings and trainings in-house, electronic, virtual, etc. as directed by supervisor.
Provide shift reports via email including completed checklists to supervisor at the end of each shift.
Prepare assigned rooms when clients transition, including removing remaining belongings, sweeping/mopping, changing linens, etc as directed by supervisor.
Maintain all areas of the buildings used by 24/7 Integrated Treatment Services to the highest standard of cleanliness with a focus on sanitation and infection control as directed by supervisor.
Report facility maintenance concerns immediately to supervisor and include those concerns in the daily end of shift report.
Maintain order and inventory reporting for storage areas as needed
Follow agency protocol concerning contraband and items not allowed in resident possession.
Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision, and report to supervisor in a concise, timely manner.
Display flexibility in accepting additional responsibilities and assignment changes, including shift changes.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE:
A GED or high school diploma is preferred.
The ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds for short distances is a physical requirement of the job
Strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task and organizational skills are required.
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a variety of situations is required.
Certification as a healthcare environmental professional with specialized training in environmental sanitation, reporting and documentation, infection control, healthcare sustainability, and efficient clinical housekeeping preferred.
