Food Service Specialist

Immediate full-time position for a Food Service Specialist in our 24/7 Integrated Treatment Program, Cookeville Campus.

This position is responsible for inventory management, current menus, and cleanliness of food service areas and equipment. This position is focused on customer service. This role requires utilization of an integrated team approach in planning, scheduling, and delivery of quality service.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with guests, visitors, family members and outside providers in a professional and welcoming manner always acknowledging their presence.
• Must be able to maintain a flexible and cohesive relationship with clients, co-workers, and the public while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Never share personal information, social media information, or anything that may allow a client to identify you or any staff member. Report all attempts to obtain such information to your supervisor and include this information in the end of shift report.
• Immediately report any change noted in client behavior or physical condition to the charge nurse.
• Employ de-escalation techniques mediating potential crises between clients when necessary and if safe to do so. Immediately report these concerns to the charge nurse.
• Follow the VBHCS in house crisis response plan in case of emergency psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor.
• Provide shift reports via email including completed checklists to supervisor at the end of each shift.
• Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision, and report to supervisor in a concise, timely manner.
• Maintain an up to date inventory list of food and all associated supplies.
• Place orders for food and supplies.
• Receive all orders and store food and supplies by date rotation.
• Submit invoices for payment as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain documentation for cost reporting.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas including equipment involved in food preparation and food service.
• Consult with staff to schedule and serve meals.
• Display flexibility in accepting additional responsibilities and assignment changes, including shift changes.

EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience working with adults with substance use and/or mental health disorders is preferred.
• One-year experience in food service preferred.
