About the Organization: The United Way Worldwide initiated a 10-year program designed to achieve the following goals by 2018:
Improve education and cut the number of high school dropouts — 1.2 million students, every year — in half.
Help people achieve financial stability and get 1.9 million working families half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable on the road to economic independence.
Promote healthy lives and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.
The United Way of Marquette County has many programs that help the community from our food pantry to assistance with medication funding, in addition to our volunteer platform for Yoopers. We are looking for a motivated Volunteer Coordinator to help us continue strengthen our community.
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) is seeking new members age 18 or older to join us in combating poverty in America. In exchange for one year of service you will receive a living allowance, medical coverage (if qualified) in addition to professional experience volunteering with youth driven organizations. This opportunity is offered through the Michigan Community Service Commission. Summary of Responsibilities:
Review Yoopers United marketing materials and develop a marketing plan to help build awareness for community volunteerism.
Work with public event coordinators to utilize Yoopers United as a tool for recruiting volunteers for their events
Connect with volunteers to get better engagement and use with Yoopers United.
Meet with businesses to demonstrate how we can partner and help support their community engagement
Assist businesses with setting up community volunteer days for their teams
Promoting program to the community to increase outreach.
Following additional direction from the Executive Director to support the program’s growth.
Perform online research to gather information of interest other potential partnerships.
Communicate effectively both oral and written; research, develop, present, and promote program to community, potential donors, and potential partners.
Ability to effectively and efficiently support planning, development, and establishment of new programs.
Strong organizational and project management skills, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16,000.00 per year
