About the job: Coordinate social, recreational, purposeful and spiritual activities to residents, whose needs include psychological, physical and cognitive challenges. Responsible for the day-to-day programming and oversight of Memory Support operations.
Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/ or ability required. - Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation; or bachelor's degree with major concentration in a human service area; or completion of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in a management position in a health care setting.
- Able to understand and follow procedures, work assignments, instructions and prepare reports and documentation.
- Ability to work with varying levels of responsiveness.
- Must possess a high level of flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments, hours and days (i.e., weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.).
- Ability to teach and train on the use of the internet and have a knowledge base of computer programs such as internet explorer and e-mail systems.
- Previous activities/programming experience of one (1) year. Knowledge base of Alzheimer's dementia and related memory loss.
- Able to meet the requirements identified in the Essential Functions.
- A minimum of one year’s experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Designs and in1plements a lifestyle plan for the entire building, including monthly scheduling of activities for entire building and maintaining a supply of invento1y of necessa1y materials.
- Responsible for the direction and training of C.N.A.s' /Home Health Aides in implementing programs as designed for the special program areas including Memory Care. This will be in coordination with administrative staff.
- Plans, directs, implements and documents activities and recreational programs that meet specialized needs of the residents in the Memory Care community.
- Meets with new residents and assists with resident orientation and adjustment to their new environment; identifies and provides for the medically related social, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs.
- Responds to inquiries and provides resident and family tours on an as needed basis.
