We are one of the industry’s leader in paving railroad crossings along the east coast for class 1 and short line railroads.

Job Type: Full-time position

Job Description:

-Traveling to different states with a team of guys to complete several railroad crossings or task at hand

-Running small equipment such as rollers, plate compactors, and other machinery for the specific project at hand

-Raking and shoveling asphalt as need to create a smoother surface for the railroad crossing

-Working well in a team environment

Responsibilities and Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older to apply

Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.

Maintain equipment by performing pre-shift inspections, cleaning, adding lubricants and fuel, and documenting all activity performed on said piece of equipment.

Must be able to read, understand and evaluate written documents and drawings.

Construction experience preferred; Perform construction tasks.

Participate in team safety meeting.

Work on multiple projects often at multiple locations throughout the work day.

Reporting equipment or tool damage or deficiencies immediately to Supervisor.

Comply with railroad and site-specific safety and operating rules.

Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.

Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, adhere to work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Knowledge of and skills in applying basic federal railroad regulations, guidelines, and rules. Ability to read and comprehend written safety rules, procedure and safety manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos, and other work-related information.

Ability to pass training and required testing.

Performs other duties as requested or required.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Pre-employment and FRA (Random) drug testing is implemented in Vorst Paving

Machines, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used:

· PPE; hard hat, vest, safety glasses, FR clothing, gloves, steel toed boots

Education and Experience:

· High school education or general education development (GED)

· Ability to pass training and required testing.

Certificates and Licenses:

· Must hold a valid state driver’s license (clean record is preferred)

-Pass a dot physical

Environmental Conditions

-Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings, in and around moving vehicles and equipment. Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPE required for the project site

• Overtime

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
