What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at vortalsoft?
FST - South Delaware, OH (this position is in the distribution center). Second Shift (From 2.00 to 10.30 PM).
The resource will have a desk onsite (designated work space). Will move through the building, but not required to go anywhere.
The Field Technician/Customer Service Engineer will provide break-fix troubleshooting and repair services
General FST responsibilities.
40-hrs/week (on-call nights/weekends required).
Distribution Center Responsibilities
- Coordinate and Maintain Warehouse End Users PC and Laptops
- Ability to provide support to high access point, via operated lift provided by the customer - we normally only go 6' will have to make sure the hire is willing
- Handling RF equipment (Zebra, Honeywell, etc.), printers, and related peripheral devices
- Supporting all aspects of warehouse / supply chain systems
- Assist in software, application, and hardware support for the local and enterprise staff
- Maintain superior uptime of all equipment, applications, and software
- Document and log incidents using ticketing system for metric and performance-based reporting
- Respond to off-hour emergencies and perform off schedule work as required
- Facilitate first and second tier support for technical matters within the Distribution Center and across the Enterprise while managing third tier support escalations as needed.
- Represent local facility in planning for the installation and implementation of new systems, services, applications, and processes
- Perform preventative maintenance and daily health check of supported systems to ensure uptime and stability
- Assist in the planning, deployment, and management of IT projects involving interrelated disciplines and multiple stages of the systems development lifecycle
- Follow Warehouse/Logistics processes, such as receiving, selection/picking, consolidation and shipping
- Experience supporting all aspects of warehouse / supply chain systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (HighJump/HighJump1) and Warehouse Control Systems (Fortna, Tompkins Control Systems, and WSI)
- Ability to troubleshoot problems across multiple systems providing supporting evidence of root cause and recommended remediation
- Coordination with 3rd party vendors for onsite and offsite equipment repairs, quality control of work performed, and coordination of outage windows between multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Engineers should always carry the following basic tool kit:
- Screwdrivers (Both Flat and Philips types)
- Laptop (Also they need to have flexibility to install free tools on their laptops such a Sniffer analyzer or TeamViewer)
- Internet Hotspot to bring remote access as applicable
- One or two network Ethernet cables of 3ft (standard patch cord)
- Cellphone with calls service
- Camera/smartphone to take pictures
- Shift: M –F Refer to DC Resource List for shift details, some oncall may be required
A (desired) & Vehicle
Standby and travel (use own car) are a requirement
- Experience in factory/manufacturing environment desirable
- Experienced in Active Directory user administration, OS imaging processes, ticketing, SW installation and imaging tools, automated help desk systems, troubleshooting in the Windows desktop environment (networking, OS, Microsoft Office suite, PC hardware, printers), network and local printer installation
- Basic understanding of SCCM client troubleshooting
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, Windows Security (Share and NTFS permissions).
- Knowledge Windows OS and related configuration.
- Knowledge of Servers, Switches, Routers, and Data Center related HW
- Basic knowledge of Backup technologies
- Ability to work in a team-oriented multi tower and vendor environments.

High school/College/Military/Tech School/IT course.
Minimum 2 years of experience providing IT support services required, end user support experience preferred
