DescriptionVortex Solutions LLC seeks a highly motivated and skilled Dietician to support the mission at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.This position will work side-by-side with professionals to provide expert care to our active military members and dependents.ResponsibilitiesA qualified candidate will have the necessary skills to provide professional nutrition services and programs to all Government beneficiaries, including active duty military, military family members, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and retirees.This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) nutrition-related primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention education programs and services by Air Force instructions, guidelines, and population needs. Specific responsibilities will include, however, are not limited to:Administer nutrition assessment, prescriptions and counseling, comprehensive nutrition prevention programs, chronic disease management protocols with a nutrition component, and various other health and nutrition programs/activities that meet the needs of the installation community.Serve as the nutrition consultant to the Director of Base Medical Service, the Air Force community, and its agencies.Coordinate with staff (Health Educator, Fitness Program Manager, and Information Manager) to deliver programs in various community settings, including individual unit worksites, community facilities, and the MTF.Knowledge and SkillsRequired: Completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a program for dietetics approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).Preferred: A Master’s degree in nutrition education, sports nutrition, public health, health promotion, or community nutrition is preferred.Current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.Preferred - Board-eligible Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics by the ADA.Preferred -Familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD), Federal, State, and non-profit healthcare systems and organizations, including DoD Tri-Service Military Healthcare Systems, TRICARE purchased care system, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Veterans Administration (VA), is desired.Knowledge of medical privacy and confidentiality (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA]) and accreditation standards of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).Knowledge of computer applications/software, including Microsoft Office programs, MS Outlook (e-mail), and internet familiarity, is required. The ability to input, extract, and format data from established databases is desired.Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.Must have knowledge and experience, or demonstrate comprehension during training, with software and databases currently employed at the MTF (e.g., Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint; MHS Genesis). Must possess knowledge, skills andMust have knowledge and experience in Patient Advocacy, Privacy, and Customer Relations.Must demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking skills and expertise in resolving complicated healthcare, social, interpersonal, and financial patient situations.Must possess organization, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/caregivers, and medical and non-medical staff professionally and courteously.Employee Benefitspaid time-off, life insurance, employee referral program, 401k, medical, dental, vision
