VS Engineering is in search of an experienced Survey Field Technician to join our Survey Team, based in our Indianapolis, IN office. We are looking for candidates to assist with construction surveying, DOT and LPA topo survey projects. VS is a merit-based company and will evaluate candidates based upon demonstrated results and performance.

Our Indianapolis Office is the main headquarters for VS Engineering and our largest Transportation and Structural teams. Our local staff includes a wide variety of experience levels with expertise in city, county, and DOT roadway and streetscapes and public work projects for local cities, counties, and the State.

A Typical Day May Include

• Develop complete construction documents and specifications
• Participate and assist the team with creative planning, design and construction inspection of various civil engineering projects
• Lead the preparation of planning documents, engineering plans, details, reports, specifications and construction cost estimates
• Coordinate with clients, regulators and permitting agencies
• Contract administration and bidding support
• Compete field assignments as needed for data collection and field checks

What We're Looking For

• Horizontal and vertical survey control establishment
• Construction staking for buildings, roads, bridges, railways, parking lots, utilities and sewers
• As-built of completed items
• Field data collection
• Prepare field notes
• Project is likely to include some Saturdays
• Use GPS and robotic total stations
• Roadway and property recon
• Records research
• Office duties as required
