Position Summary:
In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, the lead position serves as a role model and is responsible for all aspects of the operation within the department to include following all safety rules, company guidelines and GMP’s. The lead position requires the ability to work all shifts and all days of the week as needed (in case of emergency). The lead is expected to efficiently and effectively communicate all instructions given by the Supervisor/ Manager.
Shift: Rotating shift (Sunday and 1 workday off during the week, 1-9 PM)
Essential Functions:
- Communicate effectively with Supervisor, Manager, and employees to ensure that work in Warehouse is completed efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain an open dialogue with the Supervisor, keeping him/her advised of changes, problems and accomplishments.
- Follow the chain-of-command and documentation in all matters requiring supervisory involvement per the SQF requirements.
- Assist with training and integrating of new employees to the department.
- Take the lead in promoting safety within the department and take an active role in assisting with accident investigations as needed.
- Be familiar with all jobs performed in the department and assist with overseeing that daily goals/schedules are successfully met.
- Ability to assume increased responsibilities as the business grows and requirements change.
- Flexible to work variety of shifts dependent upon business and staffing needs.
Education, Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills essential
- Basic math skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work well people and across departments
- Prior experience as a Utility Operator, or strong knowledge of all facets of the warehouse operation.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the department and the ability to receive direction and organize work and staffing schedules.
- 2-5 years experience in the Warehouse Department or related area is desirable.
