BI Data Quality Solutions Architect

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in collaboration with BI delivery team leaders, business analysts and business leaders to understand data quality requirements and end user’s needs.

Translate business requirements and end user’s needs into architecture blueprints that deliver cost effective & high performing, high quality BI solutions in compliance with Charter standards, policies and long-term technical strategies

Responsible for design and documentation of the architectural vision; conceptual, logical, and physical models; ER diagrams; data flows; and process modelsfor the BI Data Quality data marts

Lead the process of identifying opportunities to improve data quality alignment in accordance with the business objectives

Provide architectural expertise, thought leadership, direction, and assistance across entire data Quality organization

Present proposed solution blueprints to the Architecture Review Board. Communicate solution blueprints to other project team members, business users and program sponsors

Participate in Architecture Review Board meetings. Review solutions presented by BI architects and provide constructive feedback

Responsible for tool implementation and maintenance needed to perform quality processes for master and reference data

Perform impact analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning for the data quality platform and its infrastructure as source systems are added and new integration business rules and logic are introduced

Engage with IT teams such as Data Management, DBAs, Security, Storage and Networking when their involvement is required to meet the project needs

Work with analytics and data engineering leaders to identify and drive data quality standard methodologies and consistency that align analytics & data science priorities to a data quality strategy and roadmap

Establish reusable tools and best practices for Data Quality analysis, tracking cleansing and escalation

Conduct code reviews for the Data Quality organization to ensure compliance with Charter standards

Work independently with minimal instruction to find solutions consistent with defined standards and approach

Foster best practices and creates a culture of consistency, accountability and continuous improvement

Perform other duties as requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Expertise in all areas of data warehousing (architecture, data sourcing/acquisition, integration, transformation, presentation)

Experience in logical and physical database design for data warehousing (3NF/Star Schemas) including SQL writing/tuning on MPP platforms such as Teradata and/or Netezza

Experience with SQL performance tuning and batch optimization to handle and process large volume of data in Teradata

Expert knowledge of multiple Operating Systems server platforms (Redhat, CentOS, Microsoft OS, Solaris, AIX, AS/400, etc.)

Proficient in Linux and Unix Shell scripting

Strong mathematical and problems solving skills with a keen eye for identifying trends and data anomalies

Working knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Lineage concepts is required

Expert knowledge of Data Management Principles and Data Quality Improvement

Experience with Big Data processing frameworks such as MapReduce Spark, Yarn, HDFS, S3, Kafka

An expert understanding of infrastructure technologies and concepts

Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking required to solve complex technical problems

Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

Ability to prepare clear and concise documentation for technical and business audiences

Ability to communicate in a clear and straightforward manner (written and verbal)

Ability to deliver against several initiatives simultaneously

Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Teradata certifications are big plus

MicroStrategy or any other BI tool knowledge and experience

Familiarity with predictive modeling tools like SAS and/or R

Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark is a plus but not required

Experience in cable or another telecommunications service provider is a plus

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and SAFe

Working knowledge of a Business Process Management tool is a plus

Experience working within an AWS environment a plus

Education

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science; or equivalent training, education and experience
Master’s degree preferred.
