What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Project Control position at VTG?
VTG is seeking a talented and experienced Project Control Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing project control activities, ensuring the successful execution of projects within scope, schedule, and budget constraints. The Project Control Manager will play a critical role in driving project performance, optimizing resource utilization, and providing strategic guidance to project teams.
This is a hybrid role.
What will you do?
- Lead project control activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring, across various government contract types, including Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee (CPIF), Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF), Fixed-Price-Incentive (FPI), Fixed-Price (FP), and Time and Material (T&M).
- Develop and implement project control processes and procedures to effectively manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Monitor program financial performance, including revenue recognition following the ASC 606 model, cost management, and profitability analysis, and provide actionable insights to optimize financial outcomes.
- Conduct in-depth reviews and analysis of Estimate at Completion (EAC) to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers and directors to assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to project teams and senior management based on EAC and profit margin analysis, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead project control meetings and reviews to communicate project performance, identify issues, and drive decision-making.
- Review and approval customer invoices, experience with Progress Payment is a plus.
- Support proposal development efforts by providing cost estimating, pricing analysis, cash flow and financial modeling expertise.
- Able to mentor and coach project control team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls/finance, project management, or related roles, preferably in the defense, manufacturing, construction, or engineering services industry.
- Cost Point experience preferred.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with experience in managing project budgets and financial performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve project objectives.
