Project Estimator

Job Summary:

WAC Lighting is looking for a Project Estimator to add to our Technical Services Team in our Port Washington, NY global headquarters. This individual will design and create bills of materials (BOMs) for customers based on the project’s needs by utilizing product knowledge and various software such as AutoCAD, AGI and SAP. They will function in a liaison capacity between the company and the customer to win project bids and drive sales within the department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

· Plan and design layouts to generate photometric renderings and offer installation drawing and guidance

· Review construction plans and recommend product based on the look and feel of a project.

· Build accurate materials lists for lighting projects (residential & commercial) while minimizing the need for installation support.

· Research materials, electrical codes and specifications as they relate to planning solutions and recommend the appropriate selection of products.

· Detail and review existing site drawings for project plans.

· Coordinate with other project professionals (contractors, lighting designers, distributors, sales reps) to ensure job success and timeliness.

· Accurately create and enter quotations for customer projects and sales department.

· Offer design guidance and assistance with active installations.

· Train new and existing customers on product systems and LED technology

· Provide technical support and solutions for project needs.

· Generate reports to company leadership on trends with project requests.

· Ensure the best customer service in each customer interaction.

· Conducts customer follow-up on all quotations in an attempt to secure the lighting project.

· Monitor projects and take appropriate action to troubleshoot and resolve items.

· Assist with process improvement and process automation based on growing business needs.

Product & Application Knowledge:

· Ability to learn our various product lines and maintains an adequate supply of updated product sources, fully understand and utilize the resources and technology available.

· Maintains ability to guide customer through product options

· Establishes & maintains a strong working knowledge of lighting product offering, including appropriate product substitutions.

· Differentiates product styles and appropriately recommend products based on the coordination of design styles with the customer’s project.

· Establishes & maintains product application & system knowledge (including, but not limited to dimming, switching, lamp photometrics use, etc.) to better articulate products and lighting solutions to our customers.

Qualifications:

· 1 years of experience in related field.

· AutoCAD experience required.

· Degree in business, engineering, or equivalent work experience.

· Project Coordination / Project Management experience.

· Exceptional communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations.

· Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail.

· Multitasker: consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined.

· Lighting design experience not required, but preferred.

· Microsoft Office experience required.

· AGi32 experience a plus.

· SAP experience a plus.
