Job Description
The Oregon plant of W.R. Grace & Co. manufactures fine chemicals for a broad range of pharma, biotech, and nutraceutical customers and specialty catalysts for polyolefins and specialty chemicals. We are currently seeking a Quality Control Technician to support and enhance our Quality team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare solutions, mobile phases, and buffers
- Wash dirty glassware according to established procedure
- Stock reagents, chemical, and consumables
- Verify balance performance, pH meter, pipettes according to established procedure
- Conduct calibrations according to required timeframes
- Set up instruments with good understanding
- Record data on worksheets and instrument logbooks
- Follow standard operating procedures for general operating and testing
- Scan data and records and archive documents on servers and in file cabinets
- Work in any shift or off-hour shift as per requirement of the company
- Prime analytical instruments as necessary
- Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements as needed by the company
- Works with good hands and clean habits according to good laboratory practices and safety regulations
- Support QC staff
- Order lab supplies and consumables
- Organize and build index for retains
- Collect chemical waste for weekly disposal
- Maintain lab housekeeping
- Log in samples into QC database when received
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designee which may include testing assistance and/or testing training under the mentorship of supervisor or shift lead
Required Qualifications
- Willing to work any shift or day to support a 24/7 operation.
- AA degree in science-related field with 1 year of experience (experience defined as working in an analytical laboratory testing), or BS degree.
- Knowledgeable of good laboratory practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of ordering software a plus.
- Detail oriented
