What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/ Receiving Loader position at W. R. MEADOWS, INC.?
JOB SUMMARY:
Pulls orders accurately in preparation for prompt shipment and verifies and enters receipt of incoming shipments. Identifies and transports material normally using a forklift truck to and from storage areas, machines and loadings docks, into vans or on flatbeds. Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents and verification with all open orders. Prepares records of receipt of incoming material and posts to open orders of suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares bills of lading or dray tickets for each shipment and checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
2. Posts shipments to customer orders and calculate balance yet to be shipped. Upon completion of shipment, closes out orders and forwards document to production planning and accounting departments.
3. Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or substitutions have been made.
4. Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, etc.
5. Checks and counts all received items unloaded from vans, bulk loads or trailers. Checks suppliers' count and reports discrepancies to carrier and to purchasing office.
6. Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITITES:
1. Folds boxes for shrink wrapping.
2. Assists in warehouse maintenance.
3. Packages orders for out-of-town shipments.
4. Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
5. Assist as a General Laborer when needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Basic written and spoken English.
2. Basic math and clerical skills
3. Ability to work in tolerate weather extremes (hot& cold)
4. Ability to communicate and work with drivers and co-workers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
H.S. diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years prior shipping & receiving and forklift operation experience preferred
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
Forklift Certification
