TheEngineering Supervisor is responsible for performing assignments of a complicated nature designing Tank Trailers and operates independently with limited guidance from management or technical experts.The Engineering Supervisoris expected to execute projects by using advanced technology to differentiate from competitors and readily identifies and applies technical tools to gain better productive results.
JOB TASKS
- Leads cross-functional projects or programs involving design, fabrication, validation, and manufacture of complex subassemblies, systems, processes, equipment or facilities.
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Successfully establishes and maintains partnerships with peers, suppliers and customers.
- Leads multiple operations projects and provides consistent operational leadership or support.
- Willing and successful in taking appropriate risk, can justify risk under critical review.
- Demonstrates the capacity to understand business.
- Participates in technical work of customer innovation projects and other strategic business initiatives.
- Performs heat calculations and stress analysis for tank trailers material.
- Mentors, coaches, and leads a team of engineers.
- Conducts performance reviews and help driving assigned employees' career path.
- Conceives and owns entire projects using engineering best-practices.
- Utilizes a deep technical understanding in one or more operational areas, (e.g. materials science, equipment design, hydraulic systems, air systems, refrigeration, automation or process technologies).
- Demonstrates the ability to influence, inspire and collaborate with widely varied stakeholders.
- Utilizes advanced quality engineering and systems techniques with bottom-line impact.
- Reviews manuals for technical content and coordinate with technical writers.
- Evaluates field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate trailers system malfunctions.
- Provides alternative solutions determining root causes, for which must possess heavy experience.
- Grows into the role of Subject Matter Expert for stainless steel and Aluminum trailers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from universities or colleges accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
- 5-10 years of experience as a design/project engineer
- Design certifying engineer status in accordance with 49CFR 171.8, et.al.
- Lean manufacturing and DfM experience.
- Proficiency in complex engineering analytical CAE tools (e.g. CFD, FEA, ANSYS or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazmat training in accordance with 49CFR172.704.
- Problem solving skills using 8D, A3, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Tank Trailer design, fabrication, and industry knowledge
- ASME Section VIII or XII pressure vessel code knowledge and experience
- Strong mechanical engineering skillset in strength of materials, stress analysis, fatigue life, heat transfer, welding

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
