Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Finance Manager. This position is crucial as the first hire in our finance department and will be responsible for handling essential accounting tasks while laying the groundwork for a larger team. The role will initially focus on core accounting responsibilities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting. As the company grows, the ideal candidate will build and lead the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances and provide explanations for significant discrepancies.
Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Optimize cash management strategies and monitor banking activities.
Team Building and Leadership:
- Lay the groundwork for building a finance team as the company grows.
- Mentor and train new team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement:
- Implement and maintain accounting and financial systems.
- Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Strategic Financial Planning:
- Provide strategic financial planning and analysis to support the company’s growth and expansion plans.
- Collaborate with senior management on financial strategy and decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Highly proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in building and leading a team is a plus.
