Vision of the Position:
The primary function of the Veterinary Technician (Licensed or Registered) is to provide support to veterinarians in the care of patients, as allowed under the regulations of the State of California, to educate clients about the best care for their pet’s well-being or disease process, and to provide medical treatment as directed to ensure a patient’s comfort, safety, and needs are met while hospitalized.
Essential Duties:
- Drives exception customer service for the pet and pet parent
- Prioritizes caseload and patient care
- Ensures patients receive quality care
- Ensures documentation is accurate and complete
- Plans, organizes, and manages the daily flow of services
- Manages appointments by obtaining histories, keeping medical records, invoicing, discharging patients, etc.
- Assists in procedures by preparing patients, instruments, equipment, and medications
- Supports Wagly’sMission and Values by focusing on what is best for the pet
- Communicates with other staff, veterinarians, and customers, and suggests other services to clients when needed
Qualifications:
- Must be a pet fanatic—pets are part of your family!
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have excellent client service skills and phone etiquette
- Must be able to inspire, teach, multitask, and be a highly functional team member
- Must have experience being resourceful and using attention to detail skills
- Must be able to work successfully as a team member, as well as autonomously
- Must have a strong sense of urgency and critical thinking skills
- Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
- Must be proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Must be able to have flexible work hours, and must be able to work additional hours and weekends when necessary
- Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must have prior veterinary experience
- Bachelors or Associates degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology or a related field is preferred

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
