Founded in 1902, Wagman is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year! As a heavy civil contractor, Wagman is a nationally recognized leader in the industry. Core competencies include: design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.
We are currently looking for Pile Driver / Welders to join our Geotechnical Services team. Qualified candidates must have at least 1 year of related experience including knowledge of how to drive piles i.e. concrete piles, welding ability, stick, mig, tig and oxyacetylene welding procedures; some knowledge of metals and proper welding procedures for such metals. Must be D1.1 or D1.5 certified. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; must be able to work at heights up to 160 feet; also MUST be able to travel in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Laying out work off of blue prints
- Setting up welding machine to assure correct heat level for the type of welding rod to be used for the current task
- Measuring and marking pile
- Using burning torch to cut pile
- Using tools to dig, pry, hammer and shovel
- Working with crew when no welding work is available
- Climb piling leads up to 160’ to position pile in the leads
- Use burning torch to cut pile
- Use tools to dig, pry, hammer and shovel
- Carry, load, unload and stack material
- Climb embankments and ladders to get to work area
- Hook and rig material and equipment for movement by crane
- Measure and mark pile with tape
- Cut concrete pile using concrete saw. Cut timber pile with chain saw
- Record statistical data for load test and/or other related piling operations
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout work shift
- Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet (i.e., on structures such as bridges)
- Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
- Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
- Required to have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
