The Payroll Manager is accountable for delivering accurate, timely and precise payroll results in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” This includes overseeing and at times completing payroll for hourly, salaried, and executive compensation. This position provides guidance to the payroll team and monitors the quality of output and service level to all Wagner Equipment Co. employees. This diverse role includes running payroll in multiple states, setting-up processes and procedures (as-needed), creating efficiencies through technology and communicating with a diverse workforce.
Pay rate: $69,193.31 - $94,822.28 Annually
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience.
Essential Functions:

- Ensures that Payroll policies and procedures meet the requirements of relevant State and Federal Regulations
- Recommends and implements controls to meet corporate requirements
- Accurate and timely adherence to all payroll related deadlines
- Accurate distribution and reporting of labor costs to the appropriate accounts and ensure acceptable account reconciliations are conducted
- Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data. Utilization of the UKG system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Exporting payroll from other time management system and importing into UKG.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Collaborates with managers and employees on missing time and edits time transactions (any missing or incorrect punches) as necessary
- Ensures proper entry of new hires, transfers, pay changes and terminations in UKG and DBS systems
- Responsible for post payroll 401k and supplying backup documentation to accounting
- Responsible for maintaining and updating employee changes in 401k contributions internally and externally
- Effective, appropriate and timely internal and external communications
- Collaborates with other internal departments to ensure that their operational and informational requirements related to Payroll are met
- Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
- Attends training and company related events as requested
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct reports may include: Payroll Specialists
- Responsible for the day to day leadership of staff, including recruitment and selection, orientation, coaching and mentoring, performance feedback, and supporting growth and development opportunities
- Manages the Payroll Department, including Planning, Budgets, Service Delivery, Team Leadership and Performance Management
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- College Degree Preferred
- 3-5 years payroll experience with 1-3 years of supervisory experience
- 5 years administrative/clerical experience
- 3-5 years customer service experience
- 3-5 years supervisory/management experience
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- CPP preferred, but not required
Physical Demands & Competencies:
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
- Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
- Safety & Product Knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
- Intermediate knowledge of DBS, Wynne, and CRM/Sales Link
- Experience with UltiPro required
