JOB SUMMARY:
The Nursing Supervisor serves as an extension of the Unit Manager during evenings and night hours, and on weekends/holidays to make decision requiring immediate attention. Assumes responsibility for and is accountable for the twenty-four (24) hour delivery of care consistent with the philosophy, goals, and, policies and procedures of the hospital during the absence of the unit manager and administration. Supervises, instructs, and guides nursing and auxiliary personnel by improving high quality nursing services. Interacts positively with staff, patients, and families. May be expected to perform direct patient care duties in case of staffing emergencies, as well as other emergencies.
Contributes to nursing and hospital through support of philosophy and mission of the institution. Considers age related needs in the planning and delivery of patient care. Is a member of the Rapid Response and Code Blue Team. Acts as a resource nurse for the Medical/Surgical/Telemetry (AMSU) unit and Cardiopulmonary for procedural interventions requiring specialized skill set.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Passing score on the Wahiawa General Hospital medication examination.
- Excellent customer service and patient engagement orientation.
- Demonstrate effective problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills.
- Collaborate with and de-escalate when needed, other members of the health care team and provide leadership to all members of the team.
- Manage multiple priorities and organize workload; includes critical thinking, delegation skills, and respectful communications.
- Convey information both verbally and in writing in a professional manner.

EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
LICENSE:
- Current RN licensure by the State of Hawaii and a passing score on the medication exam.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification and ACLS certification; must be able to physically perform CPR.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years experience as a professional nurse in an acute care facility within the last seven (7) years.
ENHANCED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.
- Previous management/supervisory experience.
- Experience in specialty nursing, such as geriatric, SBH, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBIILITIES
- Plans, develops, facilitates, and evaluates the implementation of multidisciplinary service that consists of Skilled Nursing, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, Rehabilitation Services, Social Work, Utilization Management, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Patient Access, and Patient Financial Services.
- Provides leadership and professional supervision to multidisciplinary groups.
- Promotes unit specific and interdepartmental teamwork by setting behavioral and performance standards that incorporate our mission, vision, and core values.
- Assigns, supervises, and directs the professional staff in providing high quality services to include accurate documentation.
- Participates in patient care conference meetings based on request of a physician or care team.
- Assists in coordinating nursing coverage for evening, night, and weekends. Works with Staffing Office to determine staffing necessary to accomplish stated objectives within budget.
- Makes recommendations to other disciplines in relation to applicable patient care concepts.
- Assists in planning and developing, in collaboration with other disciplines, communication, and coordination mechanisms, which will further the delivery of health services to patients.
- Solicits input and support from multidisciplinary groups when making critical decisions unless the nature of the issue requires immediate and decisive decision making.
- Performs as the hospital designee to access departments (i.e. Pharmacy, Medical Records, SPD, and Purchasing) after hours as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBIILITIES
- Participates in quality improvement and customer service activities.
- Participates in ongoing learning activities to acquire and refine the knowledge and skills needed to care for patients.
