Position Information:
The Occupational Health Nurse serves as the primary agent for the organization and implementation of all occupational health and safety related activities for all WakeMed facilities. The customer population is defined as all WakeMed employees, medical staff, contractors, academic staff, and volunteers. Activities include: evaluation and intervention for all healthcare workers who might harbor infectious agents; evaluation and follow-up for employees who have been exposed to hazardous or infectious agents in the workplace; serves as case manager for occupational injuries/illnesses and the return-to-work process; ensuring that all facilities meet the requirements of the NC Occupational Safety and Health Act; serves as an employee advocate related to health care and treatment; provides direct nursing care to patient population; counsels employees in illness, injury management and prevention; assists in the administration of pre-placement assessments, the return to work process for all work-related, and personal illnesses; maintains error-free medical records; administers vaccine and health surveillance programs.
Experience Requirements:
2 Years Clinical - Ambulatory Care Or 1 Year Nursing - Occupational Health And/Or Human Resources - Worker's Compensation And/Or Clinical - Infection Prevention and Control Preferred
Education Required:
Graduate Nursing Required - Or College Courses Nursing Required - With Required Licensure/Certification - And Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed Practical Nurse Required - Or Registered Nurse Preferred
Hours of Work:
Mon-Fri 7am-4pm
Weekend Requirements:
No Weekends
