Organization: Walkway Over the Hudson (WOTH) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group that works to support and improve the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park by raising funds to improve amenities, provide a positive visitor experience and ensure long-term stewardship to the park Our mission depends upon engaging partners, donors, members, and volunteers who share our vision. More than 500,000 people visit the park annually, half from outside of the region. The Walkway Over the Hudson Historic Park continues to be a powerful economic engine, bringing significant new revenue as well as jobs, and taxes into the Mid-Hudson Region. Our supporters are committed to contributing to events, programs and projects that deliver high-impact results to the region.
Position Description:
The Director of Finance is responsible for oversight and management of the WOTH’s financial reports, analysis and services. Reporting to the WOTH’s Executive Director, the Finance Director is responsible for all day-to-day finance operations, including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grants administration. The individual is responsible for ensuring that the WOTH develops and implements systems and procedures to support effective program and project implement and conduct flawless audits. The Director provides all financial reports and presentations to the WOTH senior leadership team and is the “go to” resource for the Finance Committee of the WOTH Board of Directors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate financial standards and regulatory requirements;
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures;
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, monitor progress and changes and report on the WOTH’s financial status;
- Manage and support all audit requirements and services;
- Provide direction to WOTH’s leaders and manage the annual budgeting and planning process, administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate;
- Support the Executive Director in engaging the WOTH’s Finance Committee, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
- Monitor ROI and make recommendations on the efficacy of events, and merchandise.
- Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting. Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets. Collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants. Maintain strong relationships with state, federal and local agencies and grant administrators. Ensure timely and accurate grant reimbursement;
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Executive Director and staff; continuously collaborate with staff Directors to assess the financial efficacy of program operations;
- Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines;
- Develop and issue RFPs for finance, construction, and retail related projects;
- Collaborate with WOTH Staff, Board of Directors, Ambassadors and Community Partners and stakeholders regarding financial matters;
- Contribute to and continually enhance the culture of the Walkway Over the Hudson and further promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Candidate Requirements:
- 7-10 years of accounting and finance experience
- Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization offering high-standard multiple programs and projects
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Walkway’s mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker
- A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to communicate key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, comfort with re-prioritization, and operating with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Work Context and ADA Specifications:
- Indoor, professional office-setting workspace
- Required to work occasional weekends and weeknights

- Required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds if/as needed
- Will require walking up and down stairs frequently.
