Position Summary... What you'll do... About Store No8 We are Store Nº8, the incubation arm of Walmart, a core component of the company’s overall innovation strategy. Store Nº8 was founded in 2017 to shape the future of commerce and help Walmart leapfrog where the customer and industry will go. We focus on concepts outside of Walmart’s near-term roadmap. Working alongside, but outside of Walmart’s core business, we create self-contained portfolio companies that allow us to test and learn quickly, pivot as needed, and stay ahead of the market. Our ultimate goal is to fuel Walmart’s core business, create new operational efficiencies, and unlock amazing experiences for our customers in the long-term. About the Role As the Principal Technical Architect at Store No8, you will be part of the Enterprise Engagement team of Store No.8 focused on Technology engagement. You will support the Director of Enterprise Engagement in driving tech engagement and ensuring that Store No.8 portfolio companies develop technologies in close coordination with Walmart’s Global Tech stack and organization throughout the incubation lifecycle including new business design, concepting, development and eventual transition into Walmart upon graduation. You will work closely with business and technology leaders to design a common approach to tech development that is appropriate in each stage of incubation, including assessing infrastructure blueprints, identifying, and leveraging Walmart assets where appropriate (APIs, data, etc.), and suggesting proper architecture. What You will Do · Design tech architecture best practices appropriate for each stage of incubation including early stage concepting, development, productization and adherence to Walmart’s core tech standards and stack over the lifecycle to enable seamless graduations · Work on building new business capabilities and provide guidance on technology architecture and costing when building investment cases · Engage in understanding strategies, platforms, and architecture of Global Tech teams at Walmart to help SN8 portfolio companies leverage and coordinate with existing and new enterprise platforms · Understand and support Walmart’s SSP (Solution Security Plan) process, identifying API’s teams can leverage, assisting with technical roadmaps, and encouraging usage of Walmart infrastructure and services. · Act as a liaison between Global Tech teams and Store No.8 teams · Complete tech due diligence and suggest strategic options that will have to impact financial costs and timing · Drive common Devops and product development standards as appropriate, within SN8 portfolio companies · Leverage Walmart assets/resources when looking at suggested solutions · Help determine Portfolio Companies readiness to transition into the Walmart core and eventually support the transition into Walmart Global Tech. · Leverage background in tech development to advise, review and understand code repositories and technical IP developed during incubation · Help evaluate and select tech talent we bring into each team · Stay up to date on latest in tech developments from various fields to accelerate time to market What You will Need · 5 years experience in software development · 5 years as a technical architect · Experience interacting with your business and product partners to gather the right requirements. · Ability to build strong connections using your networking skills · Identify barriers and suggest solutions to solve for them · Broad and deep working knowledge of the Walmart infrastructure or ability to quickly learn institutional knowledge · Knowledge of existing Walmart data resources (APIs, data sets, etc.) that can be leveraged in the new solutions · Experience working with and assessing maturity of IoT hardware and software · Excellent stakeholder management skills and proven ability to be an effective communicator with a variety of stakeholders · Team player that is organized and self-motivated with willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary · Bridge business design with technology development · Entrepreneurial spirit with excellent problem-solving skills with ability to be scrappy Perks and Benefits Beyond competitive pay, you can receive incentive awards for your performance.
