Funeral Director

Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. - DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory is now hiring a

Funeral Home Funeral Director (a licensed embalmer a plus) to assist with our local family-owned and operated funeral home and crematory. Come join our GREAT team of professionals!

Our funeral home is high-volume and fast paced. We utilize a work-life balance schedule, with general work hours 40 hours a week, and shared holidays, nights, and weekends on call with other licensed personnel. We have support staff to assist with the work load.

Duties:

Position will include meeting with families to make arrangements; arranging, prepping, and directing funerals; working in embalming room either as an embalmer (if licensed) or assisting embalmer - dressing, cosmetizing, and casketing decedent; doing removals to residences, nursing homes, hospitals, and other places as deemed necessary that may include long or short trips to transport and remove persons who are deceased at all times of the day and night (must be able to lift and maneuver deceased persons of all weights with or without assistance); operating crematory; and other duties as assigned and applicable.

Qualifications:

At minimum - Person should be professional in presentation and appearance to positively represent the funeral profession and our funeral home; hard worker; self-starter; positive and caring attitude; be able to work in a team; have excellent communication skills with good written skills and the ability to speak with grieving families and friends; be able to do removals of deceased persons at all times during the day and night and weekends on a set schedule; have a driver's license and good driving record; have a working phone with GPS and texting capabilities; computer skills.

This position requires a license either as a funeral director and/or embalmer. Prefer several years of experience, but not required. We are open to an apprentice position in either position to work towards full licensure IF the person is willing to learn the profession with limited training needed. Should be able to apply for a receive licensure as per the State of MO requirements.

Pay:

Pay scale is dependent upon experience, license, and proven work ethic. Other forms of compensation: Quarterly performance and end-of-year bonuses, supplemental pay for night and weekend removals, commissions if insurance licensed, and special assignments. Range listed could be much more if the right person is ready to work, and help to continue to make our funeral home a leader in the industry and the chosen funeral home in the area.
