St. Paul law firm seeks a recent college graduate, with a two or four year degree, for a Collection Paralegal position to collect and assist in litigation of commercial accounts. This non-traditional collection position requires professionalism and a customer service attitude. Responsibilities
Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts
Review contract disputes
Investigate historical data for each debt or bill
Find and contact debtors to ask about their overdue payments
Take actions to encourage timely debt payments
Resolve billing and customer credit issues
Update account status records and collection efforts
Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status
Skills
Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques
Familiarity with laws related to debt collection
Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
Comfortable working with targets
Patience and ability to manage stress
Excellent communication skills
Skilled in negotiation
Problem-solving skills
