What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vehicle Systems Engineer position at Waltonen?
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate customer requirements for System Safety and determine vehicle compliance.
- Conduct, as required, System Safety analyses to support recommendations for design changes.
- Support System Engineering Department in development of the System Specification Document - Safety requirement management – definition, connectivity, traceability, validation.
- Create Hazard Tracking System (HTS) and Preliminary and Functional Hazard Analysis (PHA & FHA) - as required, to determine compliance to contract and/or System Specification Document
- Generate, as required, System Safety reports to be submitted to the Customer
- Create and manage Human/System Interface Databases, Hazard Logs, Risk Registers and manage Hazard Tracking.
- Work with the HW and SW engineers identifying Safety hazards and mitigation strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in any of the System Safety related disciplines including Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other Engineering concentration
- 7-10 years of applicable experience, fewer years will be considered with an advanced degree.
- Experience in developing safety hazards analysis, Safety concepts, safety cases, Hazard mitigation strategy. Experienced in developing safety requirements traceability and test cases.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment with minimal supervision - Work with the HW and SW engineers identifying Safety hazards and mitigation strategy.
- Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills
- Must be able to meet Anthropometric Size Requirements for confined space.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E
- Familiarity with Team Center, JIRA and Confluence tools, DOORS.
- Only United States Citizens can be considered
- Must Possess or be able to obtain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in any of the System Safety related disciplines including Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other Engineering concentration.
- Certification in System Safety discipline desired (i.e: ISO 26262 training)
- Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) knowledge and experience.
- Experience with High Voltage and Autonomous Software embedded systems.
- Experience in Human Factors/Ergonomics and System Safety in product design
- Familiarity with User Centered Design philosophy and approaches
- Experience with safety and HFE related Military Standards (i.e.: MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-764, MIL-STD-1472) preferred.
- Experience working in Agile environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing Safety process and plans. Preferred experience – Defense industry, Relevant Experience - Automotive, Aerospace System safety process and execution launching designs into productions.
- Experience with various architecture designs- Vehicle Systems, Hardware Systems, Software Systems Architectures.
- Experience with CAMEO system modelers or similar Model Based System modelers environment.
- Product development cycle, AGILE methodology, System engineering V – model.
- Able to construct and update Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analyses (ETA)
- Understanding of Functional Failure Analysis
