Discovery Biology Unit (DBU) provides validated discovery assays, including in vitro assays (HTS, SAR screening support, compound selectivity and early safety profiling, and cancer cell panel profiling) and in vivo disease models in cardiovascular, CNS, respiratory, metabolic and infectious diseases. Founded in 2008, we have multiple function teams of ~500 scientists, including 11% PhD, 55% MSc, and led by 12 seasoned scientific leaders with an average of 15 years of R&D experience in the US, Canada, and UK. Job Location: Shanghai, China
Responsibilities
- Take the scientific and managerial lead in therapeutics programs and early target discovery efforts across multiple disease areas.
- Design and execute discovery projects in the lab; identify the right assay formats, design and develop the assays, execute small molecule and new modalities activity testing; Accountable for result interpretation and report generation.
Qualifications
A. Education/Training Background:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or other related disciplines. Prior industry exposure would be a strong plus
B. Knowledge/Skills:
- Deep understanding of fundamental molecular biology/Cell biology/Biochemistry. Expertise in biology. Familiar with emerging new science and/or technologies. .
- Expertise with in vitro assay development and mechanism of action studies to support early drug discovery.
- Platforms include High through-put screening (HTS), Affinity selection mass spectrometry (ASMS), protein expression/purification, cell line generation.
- General assays include ELISA, qRT-PCR, HCS, SPR, DSF, ITC, MTS, fluorescent based, luminescent based, FACS
C. Others:
- Excellent organizational and planning skills in order to meet deadlines and to handle multi tasks.
- Experience in managing teams in a matrix environment
- Strong aspiration for drug discovery work, diligent, self-motivated, independent, strong sense of responsibility.
- Being able to record and present results in both Chinese and English.
- Good interpersonal skills for building relationships across functions internally and externally. Effective collaboration with colleagues and partners.
