Summary Description: The (Assistant/Associate) Professor of Sports Management is a 9-month, renewable, benefit eligible, contracted position that reports to the Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences and Health and is responsible for teaching classes, developing curriculum, and advising students in the Sports Management majors (Coaching and Administrative Emphases), as well as in related areas, including health, exercise science, and physical education. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2022.
 
Primary Job Duties:
  • Use current best practices in teaching to design and deliver assigned courses to prepare students for careers related to sports management, coaching, exercise science, health, and physical education.
  • Coordinate the internship program for the Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, and Sports Management programs.
  • Advise and mentor students in the majors listed above.
  • Develop, review, and implement curriculum as well as program assessment tools for courses in the Sports Management degrees; assist with other Kinesiology majors.
  • Serve on two or more faculty and/or institutional committees.
  • Engage in scholarly activity in the field of expertise and keep abreast of current developments in the field of sports management.
  • Continue professional growth, including participation in the professional development opportunities provided by the University.
  • Work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Understand and promote the mission, values, and core themes of Warner Pacific University.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills and respect in all interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Contribute to the support and implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Health, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field. 
  • Minimum of two years higher education teaching experience in relevant curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams.
  • Commitment to the transformational value of higher education.
  • Deep desire to help others achieve educational and professional goals.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in related area.
  • Experience with online education.
  • Experience teaching adult learners as well as traditional students.
  • Record of research/scholarly activity in field of expertise.
  • Strength and conditioning coaching certification.
  • Professional experience in Sports Management.
