Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee is looking for an energetic and tech savvy bilingual Spanish librarian to join our Adult Services team. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to provide quality public service and the desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position at 37.50 hours a week. Salary range for this position is $23.00-$26.00 depending on experience. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F and one evening (1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) and one weekend shift per month. Weekend hours are Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Sunday hours are from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Sunday hours are paid at time and a half)

As a Bilingual Spanish Adult Services Librarian you'll:
Assist library users in the selection, organization and interpretation of library materials, and provide reference and readers’ advisory services to library patrons of all ages.
Teach public to use WNPL print, internet and other electronic resources, and technology equipment in English and in Spanish.
Place holds and initiate interlibrary loan requests.
Troubleshoot minor problems of equipment (computers, copiers, etc.)
Selects materials and develops assigned selection areas, including the Spanish Language Collection.
Leads library programs when requested, including programs in Spanish.
Answers reference questions, author/title inquiries, and policy questions
Requirements
MLS from an ALA accredited library school.
Previous library experience preferred, but new graduates encouraged to apply.
Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish required.
Knowledge of library resources and selection principles.
Proficient using technology including computers, various e-devices, Microsoft Office products and the internet.
Requires full-range of body motion including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time.
