GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of working level professional accounting duties as needed to expedite the day‑to‑day processing of payroll, accounts payable, third party claims, banking operations, accounts receivable, etc. Under the direction of the Financial Services Manager, maintains responsibility for organizing and overseeing the timely and efficient processing of bi-weekly payroll and related functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Performs Some or All of the Following)
Payroll
Under the direction of the Financial Services Manager, supervises the work of the payroll specialists to complete the payroll process. Some of these supervision tasks include but are not limited to the following: Utah Retirement System contributions, insurance benefit payments and invoice processing, wage garnishments, etc.
May assist in the direct processing of payroll as required. Takes a lead role in training and developing the payroll specialist(s) to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the payroll process. Responsible for payroll related communications for both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for making tax deposits to state and federal agencies each pay period, as well as quarterly reconciliation for the 941 filings. Responds to payroll related inquiries from WBH management and others who have a need to know as necessary. Responsible for the monthly close Journal entries for the payroll cost accrual. Responsible for reconciling payroll entries for month and year end close process.
Will perform additional duties within the accounting department as assigned by the Financial Services Manager. A summary of those duties includes:
Contract Billing
Maintains current copies of all contracts, billings and schedules for auditors; records receipt payments in billing files; codes payments to appropriate codes; performs other general ledger reconciliations. Researches missing or outstanding payments on billings. Prepares reports for management regarding billing issues and contract balances. Validates data from billing system for accuracy and relevancy prior to billing contracts. Prepares revenue confirmation letters for financial auditors.
Fixed Assets
Uses accounting software to maintain capital asset records; assists in performing annual fixed asset inventory. Prepares monthly depreciation report, maintains electronic records, and prepares trial balance support documentation.
Accounts Receivable
Performs some manual adjustment of receivable accounts; reconciles all patient and third-party receivable accounts monthly; audits patient accounts to check accuracy of charges, payments and adjustments; prepares trial balance support documentation for contract revenue accounts and contract AR accounts. Inputs all contract payments and EFT payments in client billing system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience:
- Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and
- Two (2) years of responsible work experience in accounting, and or payroll
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
Salary : $24 - $31
