This position is responsible for assisting in the non-judgmental aspects of preparing and dispensing medications.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to be successful.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
Read physician’s orders and prepare medications for dispensing.
Record dispensing information in patients’ medication profiles.
Use information from patients’ records to replenish medications and exchanges medications in patient care areas according to schedule.
Assist in inventory control and ordering medications and supplies from approved vendors.
Maintain controlled substance records.
Analyze usage patterns for pre-packaged medication and determines product requirements and priorities.
Set up, operates and maintains repackaging equipment and supplies. Package, label, and maintain proper records of repackaged medications.
Take inventory and analyze drug supplies, replacing outdated, deteriorated medication and depleted inventories.
Compile, processe and compute prescription charges and credits for inpatient and LTC residents.
Compile monthly interdepartmental bills.
Order supplies from Materials Management and restocks service areas as needed.
Perform inspections of medication storage areas according to pharmacy policy.
Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Ability to acquire skill in the use of pharmaceutical instruments and equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.

Ability to follow instructions with accuracy, precision, and dependability.
