What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Caregiver Support Program Specialist position at Washington County, OR?
- This is a full-time limited-duration position that is at-will and expected to last about 12 months.
Washington County Disability, Aging, and Veteran Services (DAVS) within the Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a Family Caregiver Support Program Specialist!
Due to the pandemic and the loss of natural caregiver supports, closure of congregate settings, and other factors that have increased isolation, caregiver referrals have been increasing dramatically in Washington County. In this position, you will help to support this increased workload by screening, intake, and assessing caregiver needs by phone, in office, and in client's home, as well as referrals to a variety of internal and external community resources.
The ideal candidate for this position has strong customer service skills and experience working with the public. They also have strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to problem-solve independently and in a team setting, the ability to adapt to changing program needs and requirements, the ability to document and organize work effectively, the ability to learn and work independently, and strong attention to detail. They have demonstrated professionalism with colleagues and community partners, conflict resolution skills, and strived for equity and inclusion in all work practices. Additionally, they have experience providing assessment and/or conducting interviews while supporting emotional responses from caregivers; some experience working with older adults and individuals with disabilities in-home and community-based settings; and experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Lastly, they have the skills to develop a person-centered plan that meets their needs; an understanding of the unique needs of targeted population; as well as a basic understanding of the resources needed to support them. Bilingual Spanish skills preferred, but not required.

Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- An Associate's Degree in a social service, business administration, or related field; AND One (1) year of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, or coordination, and /or contract administration; OR
- Three (3) years of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, and/or contract administration.
- Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
- This position requires the completion of a criminal history check in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules.
Driving a motorized vehicle is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Selection Process
1. An evaluation of training and experience of submitted application packets will be performed by Human Resources. The timeframe to review will be the week of April 11, 2022.
2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel may perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials to include responses to the supplemental questionnaire. This process will begin after April 18, 2022.
3. Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation step as soon as possible.
