Description
The Railcar Repairman reports directly to the Railcar Supervisor and is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repairs of railcars in accordance with FRA and AAR regulations. This includes inspecting and repairing railcars daily in compliance with FRA and AAR rules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Inspect, repair, and maintain railcars to ensure safe and efficient repair in compliance with FRA and AAR rules and regulations.- Able to use various tools to include impact wrench, air guns, grinders, and cutting torches in all positions to make repairs to railcars safely and efficiently.
- Able to operate equipment such as a forklift, crane, welder, and wheel truck.
- Work with Railcar Supervisor to maintain record keeping for railcar repairs and billing records.
- Read and accurately interpret company documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and federal and state regulations. Should have a general understanding of reading blueprints and other technical materials.

Must be able to pass and or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
Skills and Abilities
High school education or general education (GED) or 3 to 6 months job-related experience; or equivalent of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
