Overview
Position: Scientist I – Column Packing and Engineering
Waters Corporation is on a mission to help advance cell and gene therapies through the hastened development of new chemical tools that will facilitate their characterization and quantitation. Join us for a great opportunity to our New Modalities Portfolio in the Chemistry & Lab Automation Business Unit. In this Scientist I position, you will be an important contributor to interdisciplinary product development teams, work out of our laboratories in Milford, Massachusetts, report to our Director of synthesis, engineering and column packing, and have a major impact on the world’s newest medicines.
Responsibilities
- Pack HPLC columns to support chromatographic particle research and development and the optimization of column packing parameters
- Set up and maintenance of general tooling and column packing stations
- Prepare buffers, particle slurry, biological test samples and routinely clean systems.
- Develop and detail robust column packing protocols
- Transfer protocols to manufacturing.
- Perform column quality testing by running simple, standardized HPLC methods.
- Accurately document experimental details as they are performed following good documentation practices.
- Comply with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Science and Engineering, preferably with a major in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- Physically fit to stand, bend, twist and with ability to connect and tighten different components to column packing station.
- Good communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
- Must be independent with attention to details and the ability to learn new techniques.
- Proficient digital literacy to use Microsoft Office.
- Course work in statistics or design of experiment (DOE) is a plus.
- Ability to help 3D drawings of column components using professional software such as SolidWorks is a plus
- Knowledge of high performance liquid chromatography is a plus. #LI-CB1
