Job Title: Assistant Director of Student Services

Salary range: As determined by Salary Schedule, Unit B, 210 days
Job Goal: To provide leadership in the area of Student Services by supporting faculty and administrators in the provision of an array of high quality interventions and special education services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversight of compliance with state and federal special education compliance regulations, including state reporting
- Oversight of all Out of District placements
- Ensuring all students are provided with a Free and Appropriate Education in the Least Restrictive Environment
- Management of 504 and IEP processes and procedures, including documentation, district wide
- In collaboration with the Student Services Program Coordinator, arrange for high quality Extended School year Services for students with ESY on their IEPs
- In collaboration with building-based leaders, observe and evaluate district Evaluation Team Chairs and other student services faculty
- Provide ongoing oversight and professional development for Evaluation Team Chairs
- In collaboration with other building administrators and other student services administrators, plan for professional development for special education instructional assistants
- Development, evaluation, and support of high-quality special education services for students regardless of disability
- In collaboration with building-based leaders and other student services administrators, recruit and retain outstanding special educators and related service providers
- Provide for professional development for general education and special education teachers regarding inclusive best practices to ensure all student have the opportunity to achieve at high levels
- Assist with budget development, including primary responsibility for oversight of proportionate share grant spending for students parentally placed at private schools
Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education, Superintendent or as required by law, code, regulation/School Committee policy.
Qualifications:
- Valid MA Special Education Administrator license
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Leadership ability in special education, emerging technologies, program development, program evaluation, staff development, school improvement, and staff supervision and evaluation
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.
