Position: General Manager
Requirements: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the position of General Manager. The ideal candidate should have a college or higher-level education and possess at least 3 years of hotel operations experience, including a minimum of 2 years at the management level. Strong leadership skills are essential, along with self-motivation, team-building abilities, and a willingness to work a minimum of 50 hours per week across 5 days.
General Responsibilities: As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing and maximizing the guest and associate experience. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the overall success of the hotel by driving revenue, maximizing profits, and maintaining high-quality standards. Effective management and motivation of associates to achieve financial results, guest satisfaction, and associate morale will be crucial. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing internal and external communications and record-keeping for the hotel.
Primary Functions: In this role, you will focus on revenue, profit, quality, sales and marketing, community involvement, and leadership.
Revenue: You will aggressively pursue revenue goals by utilizing yield management and revenue maximization tools, as well as preparing and managing the annual budget.
Profit: Managing operational expenses, enforcing procurement guidelines, and implementing cost-saving strategies will be essential to control costs and maximize profits.
Quality: You will ensure that the hotel meets or exceeds Waverley Groups's and brand standards for guest satisfaction. Analyzing service and quality issues, identifying training needs, implementing training programs, and adhering to Waverley Group's training guidelines and policies are key aspects of this responsibility.
Sales & Marketing: Providing leadership support to the sales team, participating in the preparation and implementation of the hotel's annual marketing plan, making sales calls to key accounts, and capitalizing on revenue opportunities will be part of your role.
Community Involvement: You will develop and maintain relationships with the Chamber of Commerce, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, other hotels, local schools, local government, and other community and civic organizations to ensure good standing in the community.
Leadership: Motivating, coaching, and training team members, setting goals, holding team members accountable, providing feedback and recognition, demonstrating a strong work ethic, promoting collaboration, maintaining integrity, and adhering to Waverley Group's Standard Operating Procedures are vital leadership qualities.
Specific Responsibilities: Your specific responsibilities will include sending a daily end-of-day activity and accomplishment email to the Director of Operations or immediate supervisor, developing and implementing the approved business plan, maintaining high personal visibility throughout the property, staying knowledgeable about local competition and industry trends, handling emergencies, actively managing financial statements, conducting performance reviews, monitoring sales solicitation activities, conducting daily and weekly meetings with department heads/managers, ensuring safety protocols are followed, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
