What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sorting / Grading English position at Wawona Frozen Foods?
Job Summary:
Inspect and remove undesired defects from product stream. Defects include, FM, defected product or product out of specification for specified manufacturing process. This position receives direction from Area Leads or Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers.
- Works safely in accordance with company’s safety program requirements.
- Wears all required personal protective equipment
- Follow directions from supervisor and/or leads in what needs to be sorted by size, texture, and demand.
- Inspects product to ensure only desired product of final specification is allowed to move to the next processing step for finished product.
- Use specific utensils needed for the needs of the area of sorting, ie. pitting spoon in cutting room, product unblocking plate in Repack.
- Report any major or unusual issues with product to lead or supervisor.
- Understand and follow all color coding rules as stated in procedure for utensils, containers and other equipment.
OTHER DUTIES
- Other duties may be assigned as required by position.
- Notify leads or supervisors if too many defects are being seen.
- Wash and sanitize when returning from breaks and lunches.
- Assists with housekeeping responsibilities.
- Report any product and/or equipment issues to your immediate supervisor.
- Makes sure tools used for product are in an Iodine bucket, not on the ground.
- Report any unusual activity including people that do not belong in designated areas
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus and recognize color. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to cold weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The floors in the work area may have fruit or fruit juices and anti-slip shoe is required.
