Job Description:
Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency is looking for an ambitious Accounting intern as a junior accountant to provide support to the Accounting and Grant department. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles with attention to detail. In this role, you will gain experience and learn essential accounting skills by assisting our team with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and other projects
No experience is necessary but you must be proficient with basic computer programs and willing to learn.
Candidate will be introduced to not-for-profit accounting principles, budgets, become familiar with Sage Intacct Accounting cloud software, will be exposed to federal, state and local grant awards
Qualifications
Interns Essential Functions:
Enter Accounts payable invoices
Maintain vendor files
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and other general ledger account reconciliations, as needed
Provide support to Grant accountants with special projects
Posting journal entries
Qualified candidates:
Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting.
Must have completed at minimum, core level Accounting courses.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk or hear.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
Pass Criminal Background check & Drug Screening
Ability to work a hybrid schedule
Minimum Competencies:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.
