Job Summary
Perform duties to supervise the day-to-day operations of the drafting department, including but not limited to assigning and monitoring projects/workload, timelines, and quality, as well as identifying obstacles and collaborating with other departments on projects and resolutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and assign projects to the drafting team
- Establish expectations and timelines for the drafting team and hold members accountable
- Identify complex projects and offer guidance to team members as needed
- Ensure project information is communicated to all necessary departments accurately and timely
- Identify products that need to be improved and relay detailed information to product development
- Collaborate with engineering departments on custom products by offering suggestions and defining specific modifications requested by the customer
- Review and discuss drawings with customers to gather project details and verification
- Offer support and suggestions to customers on project challenges and conduct site visits as needed
- Travel to customer sites to gather field measurements when required
- Communicate custom hardware needs to the Sourcing Specialist if needed
- Provide additional support to team when workload is excessive
- Collaborate with the Drafting Manager to create processes and procedures within the drafting department
- Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
- Maintain staff by orienting and training employees on department expectations, company rules and job functions
- Assign, prioritize and verify work making sure appropriate staffing is on hand to meet department needs
- Coach, counsel, motivate, evaluate, and discipline employee(s)
- Develop the skillset of team members and regularly discuss performance as well and developmental goals
- Enforce systems, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly
- Collaborate with department manager on succession planning and career paths for the team
- Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner
Requirements/Skills:
- Associate degree in Architectural Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
- 5 years related work experience, including supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of Auto Cad
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple assignments with a focus on attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand architectural specifications and plans
- Local and overnight travel, less than 10%
- Able to work overtime during busy season
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Revit
- Familiarity of software technologies used within the engineering area
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit for long periods of time
