Responsibilities
Weatherford has multiple openings for Firmware Engineers at multiple levels for our West Hardy Road location and Spencer Road location. The firmware engineers will be working within a supportive, inclusive team in a fast-paced, progressive environment. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert, leading in the design of new products and product improvements. The candidate is expected to have DSP and/or FPGA Embedded Firmware design experience. Downhole tool (MWD/Wireline) Firmware experience is desired. They will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, sharing responsibility for executing challenging projects to plan and produce high-performance reliable products. They will leverage their extensive experience, creativity, and resourcefulness to be a significant contributor to team planning and success, and be willing and able to perform a wide range of tasks in doing so.
Responsibilities:
- Primary DSP and/or FPGA SME in a multidisciplinary R&D group
- Demonstrate knowledge of high-speed practices and standards for electronic circuit boards and assemblies
- Will contribute to analysis, design, testing, integration and documentation of printed circuit assemblies and higher-level system interfaces
- Sustaining work with product engineers and managers to identify and enable product improvements, standardization, certification, etc. as well as identifying and approving alternates due to obsolescence and supply shortages
- Assist field engineers with equipment failures and anomalies via internal remote support queries
Qualifications
- Must have Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant degree
- Multiple openings; Principle Engineers must have 15 years of experience, Sr Project Engineers must have 6 years
- 6 years of experience in DSP or FPGA Firmware design and development experience
- Experienced in writing RTL and/or test benches using VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
- Experience or familiarity with Matlab and Lab-view electronic design tools
- Adept skills utilizing test and measurement equipment such as logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
- Advanced and diversified knowledge of engineering principles
- Working knowledge of analog & digital electronics, sensors and signal processing
- Familiarity with instrumentation & controls as used in an oilfield environment, onshore and offshore
- Willingness to target minimum viable product to align with program objectives
