OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a safety and security minded individual that has a knowledge and potentially a background in law enforcement. This position will be responsible for leading and directing the safety and security of the Weber County fairgrounds. They will be responsible for event operations, staffing, help with set up and tear down, customer relations, and other duties as assigned.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise Setup staff. Manage and schedule staff leave to ensure facility needs are always met. Setup and strike rooms prior to and after shows and events. Assign duties to crewmembers and ensure they are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Document incidents and follow disciplinary procedure as required. Be a team player and work with other departments to have a seamless setup and strike of all events. Keep inventory and notify manager of any needs. Schedules, supervises, and directs the work of numerous ticket takers and shift leaders for the purpose of crowd control. Enforce rules and regulations of the facilities and the promoters. Including admittance policies concerning alcohol and off site food. Guide and direct patrons to snack bars, restrooms, exits and seats. Hand out programs as requested. Control entry and exit through facility doorways. Communicates to all ticket takers on duty event requirements and instructions. Communicates with law enforcement personnel on site concerning situations or patrons that need attention as well as staging location for EMS. Schedules routine training and other communication meetings for ticket takers/door security and shift leaders. Setup and strike rooms prior to and after shows and events. Setup in a timely manner to give enough time to banquet staff to set up before the event. Periodic deep cleaning of chairs. Repair any broken tables. Gather soiled linens and put in bin. All other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU:
Education: No minimum requirement.
Experience: 2 years in Event Operations, or Security.
Knowledge: All Event Staff positions require a general knowledge of janitorial processes and functions and require each team member to perform janitorial duties each shift. Basic knowledge of public safety concepts.
Skills: "On the Job" training to learn the skills necessary for general venue functions. Proficient communication skills, critical thinking skills, time management, and task completion skills required. Excellent customer service skills, using verbal and written communication with general public and user groups are required. Orientation to safety and details.
Abilities: Ability to follow written and/or verbal orders. Ability to follow detailed procedures of setting up a room for events. Ability to complete assignments in a given time frame.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in security and or law enforcement. Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied. Working days may include weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to hear, speak, count money, write, fill out paperwork and reports, use hands, fingers, stand, kneel, and walk up and down stairs in a quick manner. The employee must also frequently lift 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in this job is moderate to loud. This position works both indoors and outdoors as necessary. Dirt, dust and animals are common in the environment for this position. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing essential functions of this job.
