Head of Operations

We are actively looking for a Head of Operation to lead all facets of daily operations for Wedbush, while collaboratively working with other business lines, Risk, IT and Compliance to ensure that the Firm’s operational procedures and systems comply with regulatory requirements as well as established brokerage industry best practices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the teams responsible for the following activities: Settlements, P&S, Corporate Actions, Mutual Fund processing, Escheatment processing, Static Data, Physical receipt and delivery, Tax Reporting, New Account Onboarding and Regulatory Operations
• Manage supervision of trade capture and validation, reconciliation, lifecycle event processing, position break management, exception management, related projects and project oversight for team initiatives
• Lead supervisory responsibility for account opening and trade support, ensuring daily controls are performed in compliance with regulatory obligations for the specific business line
• Manage and analyze team activities and processes to ensure timely and accurate processing, establishing KPIs and KRIs to monitor accomplishment of performance levels and operational objectives.
• Develop and implement best practices which lead to operational excellence and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Oversee the development of system enhancements with the IT teams and vendors to increase operational efficiencies.
• Facilitate problem resolution coordinating between Operations, Compliance, Finance and other functions.
• Establish and enforce detailed desktop and escalation procedures and practices
• Develop a strong culture by ensuring awareness, understanding and compliance with relevant policies and procedures by all Wedbush operations employees
• Oversee response to inquiries from auditors and regulators for operations issues
• Acts as FINRA Supervisory Operations Principal

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, MBA preferred
• 10 years of progressive experience managing back office operations at a clearing broker dealer
• FINRA Series 7, 24, 27, and 99 licenses
• A comprehensive understanding of compliance, investment concepts and practices and procedures used in the securities operations industry.
• Knowledge of retail, institutional and correspondent clearing operations
• Knowledge of FINRA and SEC rules governing the operations functions of a broker dealer
• Knowledge of KYC / CIP requirements for retail and institutional clients.
• Knowledge of Trace, MSRB, CAT, Bluesheets, LOPR, LTID and Short Interest Reporting
• Ability to travel to NY and LA offices
• Ability to effectively lead remote teams and to communicate at all levels within the organization
