The Field Healthcare Superintendent will oversee the construction and quality of projects under his/her supervision. This position is responsible for overseeing work ranging from start to finish from approximately 10K up to 10M. The Superintendent will represent the General Contractor in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining the High Standards that Wehr Constructors, Inc. represents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating subcontractors and daily project scope
  • Responsible for the overall organization and cleanliness of the job site (working with subcontractors and their role in this)
  • Responsible for on the job training, overseeing and supervision of employees
  • Preparing and implementing requirements and scheduling to meet all inspection and permit specifications
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations
  • Responsible for on the job training, overseeing and supervision of employees
  • Managing project cost and schedule, including but not limited to: Assisting and preparing cost and schedule analysis. Ensuring estimating costs are obtained in field and production.
  • Responsible for considering, evaluating and compiling job change orders and the impact to cost, schedule, and scope of work
  • Responsible for researching and compiling request for information of design, schedule, cost, material inquiries, unforeseen conditions, purchasing and providing analysis for materials needed, etc.
  • Determination of manpower requirements on a daily basis for Wehr employees including schedule and hours worked
  • Reviewing, enforcing, and ensuring all parties abide by contract documents
  • Analyzing and documenting daily progress and communicating pertinent information to owners/clients/project managers
  • Attends weekly progress meetings with all parties on-site to discuss quality control, safety, work coordination, schedule, concerns, etc. Presents when needed.
  • Attends and presents information in OAC meetings (OAC=Owner/Architect/Contractor)
  • Managing on the job performance of Wehr employees, including performance reviews, merit-based compensation recommendations, disciplinary action, including hiring recommendations and ability to remove from jobsite for policy violations, termination and lay-off authority of temporary employees
  • Determining/Establishing means and methods of the day to day constructability on each project

Education and/or Experience: This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ of commercial construction experience or Healthcare facilities management. Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) or similar healthcare regulation agency experience strongly preferred. Must have Proficient in reading and understanding architectural, engineering drawings and specifications
Language Skills: This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively when needed.
Mathematical Skills: This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts and fractions.
Reasoning Ability: This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certifications: ICRA, OHSA-30 (must be completed within 1st year), First Aid/CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens required.
License: Valid Driver License

Physical Demands: This position requires moderate levels of standing, walking and talking/hearing. It sometimes requires sitting, the use of hands to finger, handle, feel, reaching with hands and arms and rarely requires climbing/balancing or smelling.
This position requires a moderate amount of lifting up to 10 pounds and sometimes requires the lifting up to 50 pounds. This position rarely requires lifting of up to 100 pounds.
Close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception and ability to adjust focus are all important components of this job. Some examples of this are below.

  • Receiving and checking deliveries
  • Basic reading of prints
  • Job site conditions and safety (requires awareness and vision from all depths and angles)

  • Quality Control

Work Environment: This position rarely requires working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. It sometimes requires being exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions.
The work environment in terms of how much noise is typical can range from moderate (example: business office with computers and printers) to very loud (example: jack hammer work). The work environment consistently changes with the project, the nature of that project, the location of the project, and the type of work being performed.
