Assembly Person Weir Minerals Salt Lake City, UT Onsite Purpose of Role: The Assembly Person will assemble, test, and mount accessories to ensure a quality end product is delivered to the customer. They will participate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop improved methods of assemblies for pumps, valves, and equipment and assist Design Engineering with research and development of new product as required. Tools include basic hand tools, part measuring equipment, overhead and jib cranes, lifting chains and slings, pneumatic wrenches, chisels, grinders, laser alignment tool, electric meters, torquing tools, and bearing heaters. Key Responsibilities: Focus Area: Read and interpret blueprints and wiring schematics to ensure accurate assembly of pumps, accessories, valves, bearings and equipment, including preparation of components before assembly and testing, and inspection after completion at a high level of quality and efficiency Focus Area: Assemble and check all bearing assemblies, perform coupling alignments from blueprints, and troubleshoot fitting and static test problems Focus Area: Inspect in-process parts and completed pumps, valves, bearing assemblies and equipment per the design specification, advising the Team Lead or Supervisor of defects. Focus Area: Assist in training, when required and advise the Team Lead or Supervisor of time discrepancies relative to production rates, for all assemblies. Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
